Ringtone
To make this all i did was use a kick, clap, the wood block noise, and the pan flute preset on sytrus. The pan flute and wood block play a similar pattern while the kick and clap keep the beat.

Project 7
This project involves two synths and drums. The main syn is low enough to give the song the bass sound, but it is actually not a bass. The second syn is much higher sounding and only plays key notes, not full fledged patterns.
The main synth has delay and reverb on, but not too much that it overpowers the basic sound. I started out with the default and ran it through filter one. Operator one is in a saw syn wave, while op two is a tempered square synth. This syn is the one playing the riffs.
The second synth plays basic parts and has a more basic sound. It has reverb on but no delay. For this one i also started with default and created a sqare wave in operator 1. It sounds bad but i found out once i click the "pluck" box in the operator menu it gave it a nice sound that i thought worked with the song.
The song itself is just simple parts. The verse is just a combination of D and F notes, while the chorus climbs up notes. The bass drums follow the same pattern as the notes are strummed and have a fill at the end of each. The sound goes to an interlude where the bass drum plays a simple sounding marching groove with bass drum on all fours. The second synth plays along with it while the main synth just holds out a note.
The main synth then plays the same pattern as the second synth. A drum roll brings the song back to the chorus, then the song ends on a hit on beat one and drags out the rest of the measure. This makes the song ABABCB for a basic form, but really ABABCDEFBG if you count each new part as its own little section.

The Project is done, all i need to do now is describe it all in detail. I shortened some of the parts to make sure it didn't get too repetitive, and the main 2 sections are only 4 bars long now instead of 8. I also learned that Indaba.com is a really cool site.

I created my second synth which has way less parts then the main synth. It is higher pitched then the other, and has reverb and delay on it. Most of this synths parts are during the interlude in the middle. I will describe more about the shape of it in my final post which i believe will be next class.

Today i completely finished the parts for sytnth 1 and the drums. The pattern of the song is ABABCA, but the c has multiple parts to it so i suppose it's more like ABABCDEFA if you count each different synth pattern as a new short section. Next class i have to add a bass part and the second synth.

December 18
Today I designed the first synth of my project. It has some reverb and a little bit of delay on it. The shape is diagonal with little peaks at the top and bottom, with the shape tension and skew toward the bottom. I also wrote the drum parts and the parts for the first synth to play.

Project 6
This is the sytrus and riff machine project. The one synth plays an under pattern while the second synth plays weird patterns over it. During this a light drum beat happens along with a bass pattern. The interlude section is slower paced with the same basic idea of one synth "soloing" over the second. The song then goes back to the original pattern to close it out.
